PEMANFAATAN GAS LNG SISA SAMPLING SEBAGAI ALTERNATIF PENGGANTI LPG UNTUK BAHAN BAKAR RUMAH TANGGA

Abstract


This study aims to utilize LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) gas left over from sampling process at PT Badak NGL. LNG is liquefied natural gas whose component is dominated by methane. LNG is flammable, like LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas), so it is possible to use it as a fuel. Comparing LNG gas with LPG, in terms of boiling time and thermal efficiency, it can be seen the effectiveness as household fuel. The stages of research is determining the operating conditions and capacity of equipment, filling the remaining LNG gas into the pressure vessel, analyzing the components & calorific value of the fuel, and Water Boiling Test. The result of this test is LNG takes a longer time to boil water than LPG. However, in terms of thermal efficiency, LNG gas has a thermal efficiency value of 50.86%, higher than LPG which is 50.11%. The amount of residual LNG gas that can be utilized with a compressor discharge pressure of 7 kg/cm2 at LNG Sample Point is 273.54 L of 582 L of residual gas, which is 46.99%. LNG gas that has been successfully stored has a total energy of 11,514,998.1 BTU with an economic value of USD 47.44 equivalent to Rp.679.039,59.
