PERANCANGAN BUKU ILUSTRASI INTERAKTIF SEBAGAI MEDIA EDUKASI CARA MERAWAT GIGI BAGI ANAK

Abstract

Taking care of teeth is very important for preschool children to avoid dental disease, one of which is caries. Caries is the loss of the coating on the teeth due to acids formed by bacteria in dental plaque. According to the results of basic health research (RISKESDAS) 2018, 81.5% of preschool age children experience dental caries and it continues to increase every year. The high number of caries cases in preschool children is caused by a lack of education in children and a lack of parental attention to caring for children's teeth so that they are clean and healthy. Recognizing this, as a form of obligation to educate the public about the importance of taking care of teeth, Syamil Dental Care wants to create an educational media for dental care for preschool-aged children. The media chosen is an interactive picture story book that aims to provide knowledge on how to take care of teeth to preschool age children. In order for the book to be designed in accordance with the objectives to be conveyed, the basis, data, and facts that support the design are collected through data collection methods, namely literature studies, interviews, observations, and surveys. In designing this book, the design research method used is design thinking. The results obtained are the use of bright and colorful colors, a layout that uses a window picture style (the image that dominates) with white space, rounded corners and shapes, the use of a crayon texture that gives a childish impression, the use of decorative fonts but still memorable readible cheerful and simple character illustration. In making interactive illustration books, design elements are designed as clearly and simply as possible so that readers can easily understand the message conveyed. Interactive features must be able to support the story and can attract the attention of the reader so that the delivery of how to take care of teeth can be conveyed properly.
